#178:  Taking Responsibility Helped Me Beat Cancer + Depression with Jill Bunny

Today we are speaking with CBT-Fitness Health Coach, Functional Medicine Health Coach, Jill Bunny.  Dedicated and energetic fitness professional, Jill Bunny specializes in CBT-Fitness (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) with 15+ years’ extensive experience in Functional Nutrition, Human Kinetics, and Psychology. Retired professional athlete, turned Cancer Survivor and MS warrior, Jill inspires her audiences to view responsibility as one of the key pillars to owning fitness, health, and life.

In this episode, we discuss:

  1. By taking responsibility for the choices Jill made, and stopping the blame game/excuses, she was able to regain the mental and physical strength she needed to fight Cancer, put MS back into remission, and beat depression.
  2. Our learned experiences carry a lot of weight in our lives, in how we show up and how we push through our experiences.
  3. It took experiencing things such as degeneration in her eyesight, extreme fatigue, and changes in balance before a diagnosis of MS. The next challenge for Jill was her diagnosis of thyroid cancer.  This was a lot of things to digest in a very short period of time.
  4. These things challenged her identity, and her need for personal control, and this was the time that she needed to shift her focus into CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy).
  5. The shift required asking others for help and recognizing who was actually there to help her. Learning to let go of control was the major shift and turning point in her life.
  6. How all of our experiences shape us for how we show up in our lives and how we can use our experiences to share with and impact others. Jill now offers CBT Certification programs for fitness professionals and coaches.
