131: Pulling the Lessons Together

Season #3 Episode #131

#131: Pulling the Lessons Together

In this mindset episode, we are talking about pulling the lessons of Radical Responsibility together. After contributing to the #365daysofclarity challenge, I dove in deep on my perspective of the meaning of radical responsibility and how now more than ever it is the time for us to take responsibility for ourselves.  For the last week of the month, I shared the 7 lessons I learned and why I can honestly speak about this topic.  Embracing radical responsibility literally saved my life.

In this episode, we discuss:

  1. Radical responsibility became the light in a very dark time in my life. I had a moment of hope or light that I could create change in my life. The thought of the possibility for something different is the first step.
  2. In order to create change, we first have to stop doing what we know isn’t working. This can be the simplest thing, yet we can’t start something new until we stop doing something that isn’t working.
  3. See the bigger picture of what is possible. I remember the moment where I realized that our personal story had a bigger purpose.  This was when I decided to share my personal story.  I was taking radical responsibility for myself.
  4. We all have experiences. Challenging things happen to all of us.  The stories we tell ourselves about our experiences are simply stories.  We can choose what we tell ourselves and we can change our stories at any time.
  5. In order to share our story, it requires putting the puzzle pieces together and learning to stand ON our stories instead of IN them. When we stand in our stories, we are replaying them and when we stand on them, we gain our personal power.  This is the space we can learn to share our stories.  Owning our stories is a powerful place to be, and this is where this podcast was born, Own Your Choices Own Your Life.
  6. When we stop carrying everything that isn’t ours to carry, (the process of surrender), we strip everything else away and that is when we can see our gifts. Our gifts are our unique personal gifts that we are meant to use to impact others.  Not using our gifts is a waste of our talents and it stops us from impacting others the way that only we can.
  7. It is not about luck. It is about being brave with our choices.  We become brave by being brave.  More on this on the next podcast.
